Fiorelli's Festive Fun: Europe’s Best Christmas Markets

Be it a bratwurst sausage in Berlin or an adventure to London's Magical Ice Kingdom, it’s not Christmas until you’ve sipped some mulled wine from a wooden stall adorned with baubles. Start as you mean to go on this season by shopping ‘til you drop, nibbling festive fancies and drinking eggnog at Christmas Markets in London, Berlin and Copenhagen this 2013.

London

For the best Christmas markets in London, Southbank Centre and Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland are a must. Head to Southbank Centre first to make your way around 80 authentic wooden chalets selling a wide range of gifts and delicious Christmas store cupboard treats including gingerbread hearts, eggnog, fine wine and cheeses.

Don’t miss Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland where you can take a flight on the giant Ferris wheel, enjoy an impressive view of London from 60 metres above ground, relive your childhood by visiting Santaland and explore The Magical Ice Kingdom for ice sculptures, ice rinks and temperatures of -8, it’s not for the faint hearted!

Berlin

Christmas markets in Germany are renowned for being particularly lovely, after all, this is where traditional Christmas markets originated, and is the place where other countries draw their inspiration from. If Germany is the kingdom of Christmas markets, Berlin is certainly the capital.

With 50 individual Christmas markets taking place each year, you’ll be totally spoilt for choice in Berlin. The market at Kaiser Wilhelm Gedächtniskirche is the largest and such a hit with locals and tourists alike that over 2 million visitors frequent it each year in pursuit of handcrafted jewellery and Christmas decorations as well as gorgeous roasted chestnuts and mulled wine.

Copenhagen

Seeking an authentic Christmas atmosphere? Head to Copenhagen in Denmark. From mid-November, Copenhagen’s Tivoli Garden theme park turns into a vast magical kingdom complete with a grotto, Christmas market, Yuletide food and festive elves and pixies.

For the thrill seekers amongst you, Tivoli Gardens also offers an impressive ice rink, 100 year old rollercoaster and a whole host of theme park rides. A stunning Russian theme was introduced last year and provides the ideal backdrop for all those Christmassy Kodak moments.
